Psychology

We offer individual therapy to adults and adolescents, using an approach that is strengths and values-based, neurodevelopmentally informed and involves other aspects that can be represented by the ‘trauma-informed’ buzzword.

The therapy offered is highly individualised, as it should be. Though it works from the evidence-base, and makes considered use of the easily misinterpreted findings in our field.

This includes specialised training in:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

  • Schema Therapy

  • EMDR

As well as drawing upon ideas and resources from:

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE)

  • Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT)

Here we have specific capacities to tailor therapy to a model that fits with the NDIS process and works with the network around the participant.

An idyllic aim for our therapy:

  • Collaborative, curious and open-minded.

  • Individualistically, helping people meet their needs and work towards their goals.

  • To focus less on telling people how to live and more on helping people understand how they live – to naturally forge a more helpful path forward.

  • To recognise the interconnected system the body and mind are, especially in targeting subconscious patterns. Such as, when (despite best intentions) people find their nervous system repeatedly stuck in a disturbing state.

  • Validating all parts of our-self, yet, bringing forward more valued parts of our-self.

  • Meeting the above with practical skills.
